How do you do?
Hello :) Welcome to the blogspot blog of Calliope den Ouden
All the recent blogs are on www.inktspatten.nl (original art&words) I could just redirect and let you zip on through. But I like the blogspot as a playground for new & depricated code so I can see if it (still) works.
In the side bar you'll find an rss-feed of the inktspatten.nl (original content) and the tumblr blog (all things that catch my interest) Existential-Romance.com
Also a twitter and *cough* Facebook *cough* because it is possible to hate* all networks in equal measures. ;)
Ta!

An apple a day keeps the lion at bay (cartoon)
Sigh. It’s unavoidable to upgrade eventually, really. The new OS from apple means I need to buy a new macbook too because my model is a late 2006/7 with intel duo. A List of orphaned models can be found here I’m girl and a gadgetnerd, therefore logic dictates that I should be excited to the power of 2 about this shopping opportunity, but strangely I’m not.

Evening cool down doodle (illo) of Valente
{This post was supposed to -see what I did there... yeah still not punny, ech- go live this last thursday, but it didn't. Blame the tumblbeasts.}
Valente's picture reminded me of 'the Prisoner' series.
And then 'teh internets demanded it' become reality or some such nonsense, anyways portraits no matter how silly (or serious) are fun to do. :)

10 minutes.
Just doodling works better than coffee to freshen up the mind for the more serious work. :)

remake/remodel: supergirl (illo) #whitechapel
The only intelligible words I could make out were girl, environment, space, radiation. By then the editor had fallen into a stupor and I made off with the rest of the beer.
This morning I woke up feeling like the rocky underside of gravel. After squinting for a good while and then tazering my left arm I managed to press 'upload'.
Warren Ellis' briefing:
You have to design a character called SUPERGIRL. But, in true Remake/Remodel fashion, you've been given only limited information by your insane/stoned bosses. The following is literally all you know:Alien girl from a sealed city that survived the destruction of its home planet is sent to Earth in a rocket, where the environment gives her special abilities. She's sent to Earth in a rocket because everyone in the space city is dying of radioactivity. She lands on earth, fakes her way into an orphanage, gets into college, and then starts operating on the side as "Supergirl."You're well aware that the following has been read off Wikipedia to you by a drunk who's getting maybe one paragraph in three and skipping the long words.BUT YOU ARE A PROFESSIONAL.And that's all you've got. Extrapolate and design from that.2011-05-02
Feed the Beast (Cartoon)
'Googely eyes: The amount of drama a cat can convey that twangs your guilt just mere nano-sized moments after you've fed it.'
In other news: I'm available for freelance work. Interested in working together? Take a look at some of my illustrations here.
If you think I would be a good match for your next project send me an e-mail @ cs_._denouden_@_gmail.com (just remove the _ anti spam) :)

Moebius on his art, fading eyesight and legend: ‘I am like a unicorn’ (link)
“In the beginning I had two different levels,” Giraud said. “To be an artist in comics because it was my dream as a teenager and when I was 7, 8, 10. I was such a fan. I committed already to drawing. The comics were not only stories to enjoy for me they were drawings that possessed me. I saw very early on the difference with my friends. They were using comics like a book but to me I saw a drawing exposition. The purpose was different for us, the experience was not the same.
The second level for me, another side – which would maybe be my Moebius face – was the other wonderful art I was discovering with a lot of appetite. The expression of art as something bigger than life, bigger than anything. There was something very mysterious about that and beautiful. It was a kind of heaven with Picasso and everybody at the same table. I wanted to be part of that.
For me it was a feast through the ages. Timeless.”
